Dear friends!

From 12 to 17 June 2012 the first regional meetings of the "2045" Initiative will take place organized by Russian-speaking participants. The events are planned in 38 Russian regions, as well as in Belarus, Ukraine, The Czech Republic and Latvia. They will be organized by the participants themselves and become the first step in the effort to develop the Initiative.

Because the Initiative is only starting its first phase of activities of regional offices, we have not yet established effective cooperation with our colleagues who speak other languages. In the near future we will correct this situation and will organize similar meetings for our participants in other countries as well.

We are beginning an active phase of work to develop the "2045" Initiative. We are hoping that in the near future the Initiative will evolve from a 10 thousand user strong Internet community into a real force, which step-by-step will make the achievement of our major goal closer.

The Initiative is akin to the human blood-supply system. It must become the major source of vital energy and resources for the megaproject that will be capable of changing the path of our civilization and help humanity to overcome its fundamental limitations, including aging and death. To achieve this goal we need new participants, interesting ideas, fundamental research, well–run business projects, good publicity, new laws and major financing.

In order for this dream of ours to be realized we are planning to create an organization, which will not only be capable of solving concrete problems but will be self-regulating. It will allow us to shift from the existing short-term pattern of work to major long-term projects, allowing everyone to plan their education, career and goals.

The structure with which we are going to design the organization will give the project dynamism, and will become the driving force which will encompass all the Initiative’s activities. Our hopes are that the organization will attract passionate and energetic people from all regions of our country and from the larger world who would want to make the Initiative an important part of their lives.

First. A research center will be established that will focus on multidisciplinary research on robotics, brain-computer interfaces, live system and brain process modeling, cognitive and human consciousness research. The final goal of this research is the transfer of human consciousness to an artificial carrier. Moreover the robotic body is only the first step. We want to create a new non-protein, but live organism, which will be capable of further evolution.

Second. We will create a social network in order to inform the general public about achievements in avatar technology as well as disseminate the new philosophy of the future as well as create a network of experts and attract talented young specialists to work on the project. This on-line service will help find new promising projects that could be submitted for expert opinion and lined up for further investment. In the future, I hope, this social network will grow into a media-holding with its own TV channel and specialist literature.

Third. We are planning to create a “business incubator” for the cultivation of specific commercial projects based on the technologies being developed. In our society a technological shift is impossible without a profit oriented business community. We must attract people to the Initiative who would be capable of using the consumer market with the view of developing our core technologies.

Fourth. The "2045” foundation was created to fundraise for the nonprofit research related to the technologies of immortality, to support young professionals, to fund creative projects, competitions, educational films featuring our topics, 3D-movies, motivation videos, etc. There are many examples of people participating in the financing of projects aimed at improving the quality of life or the creation of useful resources. By creating the fund, we want to demonstrate that even without government funding it is possible to develop socially important technologies. And that ordinary people themselves are able to help create future technologies.

Fifth. To create a pool of specialists, we intend to work closely with leading educational institutions in the country in the context of multi-disciplinary projects, creative competitions, applied and analytical research. In addition, we want to organize an educational institution – University of Immortality. The University will offer its own unique Master's program, and eventually, perhaps, an undergraduate degree as well which will allow graduates to work in the same industry as us. 

Sixth. We are planning to establish an annual award "Immortality", which will be awarded to the best scientists for research and discoveries that draw our common goal closer. The award will also be given to public figures, politicians and artists for their outstanding contribution to the development of the Initiative.

Seventh. Of course, in order to influence the development of the society, to be able to change the course of technological development and achieve our goals in the near future we will have to go into politics and start promoting the idea of immortality at the level of parliamentary politics. Perhaps one or more of the existing parties will lobby for our interests in the relevant structures – we are ready to cooperate. But let us not rule out the possibility of creating our own party to represent the interests of the Initiative in the political arena.

The "2045" Initiative, I hope, will become the basis of all this multi-disciplinary structure. And as a start-up phase of its development our first meeting in the regions will take place. In fact, we are just beginning to meet each other, to communicate, which will prepare us for further work.

Today, we invite you to discuss the organizational structure we are planning to create, as well as express your ideas and suggestions. We also hope that through the results of the first gathering of the Initiative, we will be able to nominate candidates for the role of coordinators in each of the regions. We will invite these participants to the first all-Russian Congress of the Initiative, which are planning to convene in Moscow before the end of this year.

We are looking for people who are willing to invest their emotions, their enthusiasm, and for people who want the Initiative to become part of their lives, and perhaps, the main purpose of their lives. It is for these people that we want to create opportunities for creative growth, spiritual development and a professional career.
